Responsible Drinking
MyMixMate publishes cocktail recipes for adults of legal drinking age. Cocktails should be enjoyed slowly, in moderation, and never as a way to cope. If you choose not to drink, that is always a good choice.
Who shouldn't drink
- Anyone under the legal drinking age in their country.
- People who are pregnant or trying to become pregnant.
- People taking medication that interacts with alcohol.
- People with a history of alcohol dependence.
- Anyone who is about to drive, ride or operate machinery.
Pace yourself
Cocktails are deceptively strong. A stirred drink like an Old Fashioned or Negroni can hold close to a double measure of spirit. Drink a glass of water between rounds, eat something, and don't feel pressure to keep up with anyone else's pace.
Plan the ride home
If you're hosting, agree designated drivers before pouring. If you're going out, book your ride home before the first drink. Never drink and drive.
Make a zero-proof round
Every gathering benefits from one or two alcohol-free options. Many cocktails work beautifully without the spirit — swap it for soda, tonic or a non-alcoholic equivalent and adjust the sweetener to taste.
